Question? Could Jesus have sinned?
Answer: NO,
This Question has been kicked around the block many times.
This Question is USUALLY asked by those who REALLY do not have a firm understanding of what the scriptures say about God and his attributes or by those that DENY the Diety of Christ.
Those that CLAIM that Jesus could have sinned is based on their FLAWED belief that since Jesus was part human, they RATIONALIZED in their mind that it WAS possiable for Jesus to sin if he wanted to.
Here is the truth and refutation to those WHO have the FLAWED thinking and belief that Jesus could have sinned.
FIRST… Jesus is GOD IN THE FLESH he CANNOT sin – John 1:1, & 14, James 1:13, 1 John 3:8, & 9
(John 1:1, 14) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (14) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
(James 1:13) Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
(1 John 3:8,9) He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. (9) Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
SECOND… Although Jesus had a human body it DID NOT contain any sinful blood BECAUSE God supplied the needed sinless blood, Joseph WAS NOT Jesus’s father, God was. – Matthew 1:18-20,25
(Matthew 1:18) Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. (19) Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. (20) But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost (God). (24) Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: (25) And knew her not(sexually) till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
THIRDLY… If Jesus could have sinned then he could not have paid for the sins of the world on the cross but would have had to pay for his own sins. which is CONTRARY to what the scriptures teach. – John 1:29, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 2:24, 3:18.
(John 1:29) The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
(2 Corinthians 5:21) For he(God) hath made him(Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness(Perfection) of God in him(Jesus).
(1 Peter 2:24) Who his own self (Jesus Christ)bare our sins in his own body on the tree (Cross), that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes( Death, Burial , Resurrection) ye were healed (saved).
(1 Peter 3:18) For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.
IT IS UTTER NONSENSE and down right DENIAL of the Diety of Christ and the Word of God to EVEN THINK for one second that Jesus could have sinned, the Bible makes it VERY CLEAR that Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit are ONE and the SAME God.
(1 John 5:7) For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
The Bible DECLARES:
(Romans 3:4) God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
