Question 146

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? could you sir give your thoughts on Matthew 6:33?

(Matthew 6:33) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

I take this verse to mean that we NEED to put the things of the Lord FIRST in our lives, and then live a life that is WELL PLEASING to him.

First, take NOTICE the words “But SEEK ye (you) FIRST the Kingdom of God”.

This can be applied Two Fold…

– #1- First things First we NEED to Trust Christ ALONE as saviour.

– #2- Then we NEED to find out what HIS WILL is for our lives, and that COMES from Reading the Bible, Going to a GOOD Bible Teaching Church, Fellowshiping with other like minded Believers ect,

Second, take NOTICE the words “And his Rightousness”, This speaks of God’s perfection.

this can be applied Three Fold…

– #1- We NEED to be perfect to go to heaven, and that is ONLY obtained THROUGH Christ ALONE by Trusting in ALONE his Death, Burial, and Resurrection for salvation.

(2 Corinthians 5:21)  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness (perfection) of God in him.

– #2- The Lord WANTS US to go into perfection (maturity), to grow in the faith so that he can use us to mentor those that are babes in the knowledge of his word, and young in the faith.

(Colossians 1:28)  Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

(2 Peter 3:18)  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

– #3- God wants us to live RIGHTEOUS in the eyes of the lost. You CANNOT be an effective witness for the Lord if your life is a mess, ESPECIALLY if you are living one that is CONTRARY to your claim to be a christian, YES YOU CAN DO THAT, but you WILL NOT be a Happy, Joyous christian, like the Lord wants you to be.

(Matthew 5:16)  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
