Question? What does 2 Timothy 2:12 mean that Jesus will deny us?
(2Timothy 2:12) If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us.
Answer:
Many TRY to use this verse as proof that a person can lose their salvation if we deny him then as a result he will deny us eternal life but this is NOT SO all a person has to do is READ THE NEXT VERSE to get the answer.
(2Timothy 2:13) If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
V13 states that even if we BELIEVE NOT after we have been saved The Lord Jesus WILL NOT UNSAVE US because he CANNOT DENY what he has promised the believer and that is EVERLASTING LIFE.
AFTER a person has TRUSTED IN CHRIST ALONE for salvation the Holy Spirit INDWELLS that individual PERMANENTLY.
(Eph 1:13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.
(Titus 1:2) In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.
(Joh 3:16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(1John 5:11) And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
Our Salvation is ETERNALLY SECURED FOREVER no matter what
(John 10:28,29) And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (29) My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
Being that our salvation CANNOT be denied, taken away, or lost but if a christian LIVES IN WILLFUL DISOBEDIENCE of the Will of God, here is a short list of:
Things that the Christian can be denied of:
– Blessings here on earth.
– Rewards in heaven.
– Being used by the Lord.
– Our Physical Life.
– ETC, ETC, ETC…
(1 Corinthians 3:14, 15) If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. (15) If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
(1 John 5:16,17) If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. (17) All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
(Acts 5:1 – 11) But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, (2) And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet. (3) But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? (4) Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. (5) And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. (6) And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him. (7) And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. (8) And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. (9) Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. (10) Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. (11) And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.
In Conclusion:
2 Timothy IS NOT about our salvation being denied as some teach, salvation is UNCONDITIONAL, given freely and guaranteed forever to anyone who will simply place their Trust Alone in the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ as their ONLY MEANS of Eternal Life.
– Our Blessings
– Our Rewards
– Being used by the lord
– Length of Life
ARE ALL CONDITIONAL based upon OUR FAITHFULNESS or WILLFUL DISOBEDIENCE to the Lord.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
