Question 327

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? Was the virgin Mary sinless?

This is just one of THE MANY false teachings of the Roman Catholic Church,

The Bible states in Luke 1:46, and 47…

(Luke 1:46,47) And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, (47) And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

If Mary was sinless there would have been no need for her to state in V47 God my Saviour. Mary KNEW she was sinner and as the bible states SHE BROUGHT a sin offering for HER SINS.

(Luke 2:21- 24) And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. (22) And when the days of her (Mary)purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; (23) (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord – Exodus 13:2;) (24) And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.

As it is written in the law of Moses…

(Leviticus 12:1,6-8) And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, (6) And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest: (7) Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female. (8) And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

As stated at the beginning of this Bible question & answer, the Roman Catholic Church HAS MANY false teachings.

According to the Roman Catholic Church they also teach that…

– Mary ascended physically (Bodily) into heaven.

CONTRADICTS – (1 Corinthians 15:50) Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit (enter) the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

– Mary had no other children.

CONTRADICTS – (Matthew 13:55, 56) Is not this the carpenter’s son (Joseph)? is not his (Jesus) mother called Mary? and his brethren (half brothers), James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? (56) And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

NOTE: The Roman Catholic Church TRIES to twist this and say that this verse is referring to spiritual brothers and sisters but this is NOT SO and there again LIEING and TWISTING the truth that this verse is IN FACT talking about Mary’s OTHER PHYISICAL CHILDREN.

– Priest cannot be married, and eating meat on Friday.

CONTRADICTS – (1 Timothy 4:3)
Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

(1 Timothy 3:2) A bishop (PASTOR / MINISTER) then must be blameless, the husband of one wife (be married), vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach.

(1 Corinthians 8:8)
But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

IN OTHER WORDS you gain NO BROWNIE POINTS with God, in fact you are GOING AGAINST scripture

– Call a Priest Father.

CONTRADICTS – (Matthew 23:9)  And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

The Roman Catholic Church CLAIMS that this is a title of respect, there again NOT SO and it GOES AGAINST the plain teaching of scripture.

– Salvation is ONLY COMES through the Church (Roman Catholic) by Faith PLUS the Sacraments,

CONTRADICTS – (Romans 4:5) But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

(Romans 11:6)
And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

(Ephesians 2:8,9)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
(9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.

(Titus 3:5)
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

(John 3:16)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

(Acts 16:31)
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

In Conclusion:

The ONE THING that the Roman Catholc Church DENIES THE MOST is that a person CAN KNOW they have eternal life in this life.

CONTRADICTS – (1 John 5:13) These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

NOTE: The word KNOW is the Greek word EIDO and it means to have a PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE, in other words a person CAN KNOW PERSONALLY that they have eternal life at the EXACT MOMENT they trust Christ as saviour, for the Bible – John 3:16 etc IS THEIR CONFIRMATION of salvation.

The Bible states that we are to do this with false religions…

(Romans 16:17)
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

(Colossians 2:8)
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

(2 Corinthians 11:3
) But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

The simplicity that is in Christ = THE GOSPEL – 1 Corinthians 15: 1-4

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
