Question 365

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? Could you clear up for me what “Ye Shall Be” means in 2 Corinthians 6:18?

2 Corinthians 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Answer:

“Ye Shall be” is simply refering to the fact THAT IF a christian is in fellowship with the Lord (Living in obedience to his Will and Word) THEN we “Shall Be” sons and daughters.

A good way to help explain this is let’s say a Dad and Mom have a son or daughter that listens, does what they are told, and are well behaved, that son or daughter ARE (Shall Be)in fellowship with their parents, BUT if that same son or daughter DOES NOT listen, do what they are told, and misbehaves then they are OUT OF fellowship with their parents And the same is true for every disobediant christian who is OUT OF fellowship with the Lord BUT they are still a son and daughter.

A person MUST REMEMBER that at the moment a person trust Christ as saviour they become a son or daughter (called sonship) and that can NEVER be taken away for it is eternal.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.

A Christians sonship (salvation) CANNOT be removed because of their disobedience but a christians fellowship CAN be lost BECAUSE OF the lack of obedience to the Lord’s Will and Word.

2 Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

NOTE: I will recieve you IN FELLOWSHIP if the former mentioned is done

In John 14:15 Jesus said “If ye love me, keep my commandments”.

in contrast to John 14:15 christians SHOULD LIVE for the Lord but sadly many don’t.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

The attitude that every christian should have should reflect what the Apostle Paul penned in Romans 12:1

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

IN CONCLUSION:

“Ye Shall Be” is DEPENDANT upon the christians obedience and dedication that they give to the Lord.

In the words of Dr. Max D. Younce, Pastor – www.heritagebbc.com “How can I do less than give him my best after all he has done for me.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins. the MOMENT you believe(TRUST in Christ ALONE) you recieve eternal life.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
