Question 414

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? Is there a Contradiction between Matthew 27:3-5 & Acts 1:18?

Matthew 27:3-5 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, (4) Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. (5) And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

Acts 1:18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

Answer:

The answer IS NO!!!

The scriptures in Acts 1:18 just gives us MORE INFORMATION.

Apparently after Judas Iscariot had Hanged himself, the rope, or the tree branch must have broken and Judas’s body fell to the rocks below and Acts 1:18 gives us the detailes.

The Four Gospels are the same way and they have been scrutinized by many skeptics for SO CALLED contradictions but each of the Four Gospels ACTUALLY compliment and accommodate each other for THEY GIVE a four sided composite view of the recorded events that took place especially during the Lord Jesus earthly ministry, betrayal, and crucifixion.

For example when the Police Authorities investigate a crime or an accident they talk to everyone that is involved and those THAT HAD witnessed and have knowledge of those events.

During their investigations they expect slightly different accounts of those events from each individual BUT if all the people give the exact same details WITHOUT any variance then the Police Authorities WILL SUSPECT a cover up.

The Four Gospels are NO DIFFERENT they give four SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT eyewitness accounts of events that are recorded within their pages which gives US PROOF that they were NOT COPIED from each other but were the accounts of those that had seen and had knowledge of those activities.

IN CONCLUSION:

There is NO CONTRADICTION and those that try to say there is have NO UNDERSTANDING of the Word of God and ONLY WANT to remain in their unbelief.

As the old saying goes, “They would cut off their nose despite their face”.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
