Question? Tell me, Is 1 Timothy 2:9 a command against women wearing makeup and Jewerly etc.?

1 Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array.

Answer: No, most definitely not.

Sad to say THERE ARE alot of churches and religious organizations like the Amish that hold to a very legalistic interpretation of 1 Timothy 2:9 and teach that women are not to wear any kind of makeup or jewelry these same groups even go so far as to quote Deuteronomy 22:5 (out of context)… The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God. saying that women are not allowed to wear pants, what they FAIL to see is that Deuteronomy 22:5 is speaking out about the pervertness of the Homosexual, Lesbian, Cross dressing, and Transgender lifestyles, where as 1 Timothy 2:9 is a exhortation to women that they are to dress in such a manner that would NOT attract men sexually.

NOTE: The word SHAMEFACEDNESS is the Greek word AIDOS and it is rendered in the NEGATIVE SENSE, in other words “To dress as to NOT draw attention to one’s self in a sexual manner”.

Unfortunately there are alot of “Young Women” that dress to the point where there is “Very Little” left to the imagination and then wonder why most men think only of sex.

1 Timothy 2:10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

In Conclusion:

If a woman WANTS a man to respect her then she NEEDS to dress respectfully, as 1 Timothy 2:9 states in part… “That women adorn themselves in modest apparel”. Simply put…Dress in such a manner that would EXEMPLIFY your beauty (a REAL man will recognize this) and NOT bare it for all eyes to feast on which would bring a shame not only to your testimony but also to your saviour the Lord Jesus Christ as well .

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
