Question 473

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? In the Bible is there a story where there is a False accuser that lied and the accused that told the truth but wasn’t believed?

Answer: Yes there is, It is found in Genesis Chp. 39

But first here is a little background information

Because of jealousy – Genesis 37:3, & 4, Joseph’s brothers first ploted to kill him and throw his body into a pit – Genesis 37:20…

Genesis 37:3-4 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours. (4) And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him (Jealous FUELED hate), and could not speak peaceably unto him.

Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.

But then Ruben heard this and told his other brothers to not kill Joseph but cast him into the pit alive

Genesis 37:21-22 And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him. (22) And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.

Then Judah came up with the idea of selling Joseph as a salve to make some money.

Genesis 37:26-27 And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? (27) Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.

Joseph was eventually sold to Potiphar, who was an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard.

Genesis 39:1 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.

Joseph during his time in services for Potiphar, he had proved himself to be very good worker and because of that he (Joseph) gained favor with his boss (Potiphar).

Genesis 39:2-4 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master (Potiphar) the Egyptian. (3) And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand. (4) And Joseph found grace in his (Potiphar) sight, and he served him: and he (Potiphar) made him (Joseph) overseer over his (Potiphar) house, and all that he (Potiphar) had he put into his (Joseph) hand.

Over the course of time Potiphar’s wife THOUGHT that she could seduce Joseph into having sex with her but Joseph REFUSED.

Genesis 39:7-8 And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. (8) But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand.

Potiphar’s wife continued to try MANY times to get Joseph to have sex with her and each time Joseph REFUSED.

Genesis 39:10 And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.

After many failed attempts to get Joseph to have sex with her, SHE LIED about the whole situation and Joseph was unfortunately “Not Believed” and placed into prision.

Genesis 39:12-20 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out. (13) And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth, (14) That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice: (15) And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out. (16) And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home. (17) And she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me: (18) And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out. (19) And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled. (20) And Joseph’s master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.

In Conclusion:

In view of the recent sex allegations AGAINST Judge Brett Kavanaugh by Christine Ford I believe this REALLY shows the “Sad Moral Decay” our once “Great Country” has degraded to.

This whole FACADE of recent events just goes to show that mankind (people) has NOT changed since Potiphar’s wife FALSELY ACCUSED and lied about an innocent man named Joseph BECAUSE she did not get what she wanted.

In Proverbs 30:12 the Bible states…

There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

YES, there have been women WHO have been the victim of “Cruel and Abusive” men and unfortunately have been forced into silence out of fear of what will happen to them if they should dare to speak out.

But I believe that BEFORE anybody can be accused of “No matter what the crime is” there NEEDS to be “Hard Evidence” proving that fact NOT just on what someone has said or based on a 35 year old memory let’s not hang the innocent with the guilty.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
