Question 487

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? I have two questions maybe you can give an answer to them. #1 Is fasting biblical and #2 Can women served communion?

Answer:

The answer to the first question Is fasting biblical is yes BUT it is not a requirement for the christian to practice it is to be ONLY done voluntarily and by the Lord’s guidance, IF the Lord has laid it upon the christian’s heart to fast then as scripture states it needs to be done in such a fashion that nobody except the Lord knows that this is being done.

Matthew 6:16-18 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (17) But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; (18) That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

The word ANOINT is the Greek word ALEIPHO and means PERFUME WITH OIL, our modern term for this would be “Wash your head with Shampoo” in other words make yourself look clean and groomed.

The answer to Question #2 Can women served communion is no.

I base my answer on 1 Timothy 2:11 & 12 which states…

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. (12) But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

The serving of the Lord’s Supper (communion) needs to be done either by the Pastor the Deacons or by the men of the church.

God has established how things are to be done and has placed the man in the chair of authority and holds him accountable in the matters concerning the Home, Family, and Church.

Women have many roles of importance in the church such as Teaching Sunday School, Running the Nursery, Cleaning the church, or Leading the Choir etc in which are VERY much need helps to make the operation of a church a success but the serving of the Lord’s Supper and Teaching of the Word of God from the Pulpit is the responsibility that is given to the man.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
