Question 501

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? Just curious, is it possible that King Nebuchadnezzar was saved at the end of his life?

Answer:

It is possible, and if he was he is a typology of the Carnal Christian after all he did witness that Meshach, Shadrach, and Abednego that he had commanded to be put into a firey furnace that was heated up seven times hotter than normal come out alive WITHOUT even so much as a hair singed on their heads – Read Daniel Chp. 3 and if that didn’t get his attention I don’t know what else would have.

After that MIRACULOUS EVENT King Nebuchadnezzar DECLARED in Chp 3, Verses 28, & 29

Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. (29) Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.

As time went on as recorded In Daniel 4:30 King Nebuchadnezzar BOASTED about what HE had done.

The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?

TAKE NOTE that King Nebuchadnezzar said “That I have built”, “By the might of my power”. Many backslidden carnal christians FALL INTO this trap, THEY FORGET that it is the Lord that gives them the Skills, Health, and Opportunities to advance in life.

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Deuteronomy 8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

So in consequence the Lord DECLARED JUDGEMENT against the King and punished him WITH insanity.

Daniel 4:31-33 While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. (32) And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. (33) The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.

AFTER many years in this condition King Nebuchadnezzar FINALLY came to his senses and realized three things…

#1 – That HE had brought this Judgement of God upon himself.

#2 – That God is in control of the universe and running things NOT HIM.

#3 – To submit his proud mind to the “Will of the Lord”.

Daniel 4:34-37 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: (35) And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? (36) At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me. (37) Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase (humble).

IN CONCLUSION:

Here is what we can gleem from this is…

The Lust of the Eyes, The Lust of the Flesh and the Pride of Life – 1 John 2:16 WILL TAKE the christian down the road of despair, and heartache and WILL BRING upon themselves the corrective hand of God.

Sadly MANY christians have had to be humbled just like King Nebuchadnezzar BEFORE they “Look to the Lord” and submit their will for God’s Will.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
