Question? Why can’t Romans 10:13 be used as the gospel?
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Answer:
The answer is found in Verses 14 and 15…
Romans 10:14-15 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? (15) And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Verse 14- “How shall they CALL UPON him in whom they have not believed”?
Those in V14 are ALREADY SAVED, they have ALREADY BELIEVED.
Verse 15 – “How shall they preach”? – you CANNOT preach (Give Testimony of) unless you have a message to tell.
Beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace – ONLY THOSE that give out the Right Gospel Message ARE BEAUTIFUL in the Eyes of the Lord.
Glad Tidings of Good Things represents HAVING the Assurance of one’s salvation and the Knowledge of Knowing Christ as our Saviour from the Word of God
1 John 5:13 These things have I written (in the Bible) unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Verse 13- is speaking of CALLING UPON the Lord for Deliverence, Safety or for help NOT SALVATION.
If a person had to CALL UPON the Lord to be saved that would add Human Merit or works to the Gospel message.
The Gospel is simply this… John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
In Conclusion:
Verses 9 through 13 ARE SPEAKING of “Giving Testimony Of” what has ALREADY taken place.
You cannot Confess or Give Testimony of to something that you don’t know about or believe in ALREADY, it’s a AFTER FACT not a Before Hand.
The Lord Jesus IS NOT asking us to CALL UPON him to be saved, he is WANTING US to “Believe” that he went to the cross, Died, was Buried, and three days later Resurrected from the grave as payment for our sins, That is what he is asking us to Trust and Rely On only.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
