Question 565

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? Does the bible mention any where what Jesus wrote on the ground in John 8:8?

John 8:8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

Answer:

No, the bible is silent on this , but Verse 7 does hint at the fact that it could have been the very same sin in which they (the Scribes & Pharisees) were guilty of and wanted this woman in Verses 3 & 4 to be stoned for.

John 8:3-7 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, (4) They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. (5) Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? (6) This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. (7) So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

My question to this is… “Where was the man or the men” that this woman was committing adultery with? Were the Scribes and Pharisees protecting “One of there own”,

But one thing is for sure is this… The Lord DEFINITELY knew who it was. Maybe, it was THEIR NAMES along with the sins they were guilty of, we will never know on this side of heaven.

In Conclusion:

I believe that the whole point Jesus was making with the writing on the ground was to show to all those involved and to us today that just like this woman that had been caught in adultery, they, as well as all of us ARE SINNERS in need of Christ as our saviour.

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
