Question? Hebrews 1:10-12 is an intresting piece of scripture, please, if you will, run through them, Thanks?
Hebrews 1:10-12 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: (11) They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; (12) And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
Answer:
Hebrews 1:10 – The creation of the ORIGINAL earth and universe in Genesis 1:1 are mentioned here.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
It is INTERESTING to note that the Lord God questioned Job about the very same thing and asked him…
Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
And of course the answer to this is… No One Was There, BUT The Father (God), The Son (Jesus Christ), and The Holy Spirit.
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
John 1:1, 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (14) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Verse 11 simply further states that this Earth and the Universe will be recreated (they shall perish).
2 Peter 3:10-12 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (11) Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, (12) Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
BUT the Lord Jesus is eternal, he LIVES ON forever (but thou remainest), For he is God.
Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Hebrews 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
V11 continues on, and as the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics and the “Sins of mankind” ARE ALLOWED to take their course, the Earth, and this Universe are described and liken unto a piece of clothing that ages and wears out.
2nd Law of Thermodynamics: When energy changes from one form to another form, or matter moves freely, entropy (disorder, decline) increases.
To put it in Layman’s terms… As things age and wear out they fall apart.
And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: These words have been much debated as to their meaning and MANY interpretations have been given.
I hold to the old adage… “If it makes good sense then seek out no other sense.” and this is a GOOD rule of thumb when it comes to Bible interpretation.
I believe it is simply saying that the Lord God WILL as he stated in 2 Peter 3:10-12 & Revelation 21:1 is going to RENOVATE (remake, recreate) our earth and solar system as foretold in scripture.
but thou art the same: Speaking of Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
And thy years shall not fail: These words SHOULD draw one’s attention to the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ IS NOT bound to the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics or any of the laws that govern our physical world and solar system, HE is the one that created them and therefore he IS NOT limited to or by them BUT is eternal and exsist outside of Time, Space, and Matter.
In Conclusion:
The INFINITE God of the Bible CREATED an Most Marvelous creation for all of mankind to behold their glories.
He wrote a TIMELESS and AGELESS book called “The Bible” and gave it to mankind for our FINITE minds to feast upon and to stir our appetite to KNOW MORE of him.
Any that can look into the night time sky, View the wonders of God’s creation during the day, and stare into the Sun (so to speak) and then in all absurdity REFUSE to believe the Bible’s authenticity, DENY the God that wrote it, and REJECT Christ and his payment for their sins is beyond me and NOTHING SHORT of foolishness at its absolute best and unwise at the very worst.
The Bible states in Psalms 14:1, 2 Thessalonians 1:8,9 & Revelation 14:11…
Psalms 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
2 Thessalonians 1:8,9 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey (believe) not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. (9) Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction (torment, punishment) from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.
Revelation 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later
The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
