Question? I haven’t found an satisfactory explanation of “They took them wives” in Genesis 6:2, what is your explanation?

This portion of scripture has been HOTLY DEBATED among christians as to whom this part is speaking about.

There are those that teach that the sons of God is referring to the children of Seth who marry unbelievers, I believe that this is not so.

In several places in the Book of Job the word SONS is understood as referring to ANGELS.

(Job 1:6) Now there was a day when the sons (Angels) of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

(Job 2:1) Again there was a day when the sons (Angels) of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

(Job 38:4 – 7) Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. (5) Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? (6) Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;(7) When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons (Angels) of God shouted for joy?

I believe that this is the correct understanding of the word SONS in Genesis 6:2 as well.

The word WIVES in the Hebrew is ISHSHAH NASHIYM and it means WOMEN, therefore the phrase “They took them Wives” is MISTRANSLATED (another reason why I am not Kjv only) and should have been translated as “They took them Women” meaning that these Angels (They) “POSSESSED” (Took) these women rather than the Children of Seth marrying unbelievers, which I believe agrees with what Matthew 22:29,30 says.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. (30) For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels (sons) of God in heaven.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
