Question? I was reading Exodus Chp.14 and V12 kinda jumped out at me, Is there any application here?
Exodus 14:12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
Answer: Yes there is, the application is this…
Egypt is a TYPOLOGY of the world (I.E… Community, Town, or City where you live), the lost person, and sin.
TAKE NOTICE of the words Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians.
SADLY many christians are comfortable in their sin (let us alone) and would rather remain in it (that we may serve) to be accepted by (socially) and rub elbows (so to speak) with those of their community where they work and live (Egypt) then rather stand out from among them and take heed to what the scripture states in Romans 6:14-16 & 12:1 .
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. (15) What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. (16) Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
In Conclusion:
In order to be EFFECTIVE WITNESSES as christians among the world and within the community that we live in, we need to…
– Come out from among them.
2 Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
– Do not do the things that we know that we should not do.
Romans 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
– Be the light that shines for Jesus Christ.
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
