Question? This may seem silly, but why did God only allow Gideon to use 300 men?
Answer: Before I answer that, Just to let you know that there are NO SILLY, honest questions about the Bible.
In the Book of Judges, in Chapter 7, in Verse 2, the Bible says…
And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.
The answer is… lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.
The word VAUNT is the Hebrew word PAWAR and it means… TO BOAST, or GLORY, in other words… TO TAKE CREDIT.
The Lord WANTED the Israelites TO KNOW that it was THE LORD that gave them “The Victory”, not by their doing.
Satan WOULD LOVE for the christian get “All Full of Pride” and “Take Credit” than rather give the Lord the glory.
Ephesians 2:9 says… Not of works, lest any man should boast.
But Rather…
1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us THE VICTORY through our Lord Jesus Christ.
In the world of Christendom a Pastor, or Ministry IS NOT considered a “Success” UNLESS they are “Mighty In Size”, Well, from my perspective, usually large means compromise,BECAUSE, the majority of christendom DOES NOT want “Sound BibleTeaching or Doctrine”.
In fact Zechariah 4:10 states…
For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.
In Conclusion:
God USUALLY accomplishes his will by those that are DEEMED INSIGNIFICANT (despised the day of small things), and that was God’s intent with Gideon, or with ANY christian, church or ministry, small in number BUT mighty in the hands of the Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
