Question At the end of 1 Corinthians 3:15 the words shall be saved; yet so as by fire, what does the bible mean here?

1 Corinthians 3:15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

The Word of God, the Bible uses many word objects to describe itself in the scriptures, here are just a few examples…

– Water….. Ephesians 5:25,26

– Sword….. A Revelation 19:15

– Fire, Hammer….. Jeremiah 23:29, 1 Corinthians 3:13

– Milk….. Hebrews 5:12, 13, 1 Peter 2:2

– A Lamp….. Psalms 119:105

In 1 Corinthians 3:15 the Bible is described as a fire

The context of Verses 11 – 14 is about the Gain or Loss of rewards and this is dependent upon how faithful a christian was in serving the Lord Jesus Christ during their earthly life.

SADLY there are ALOT of unfaithful christians that have forfeited (or Lost) all of their rewards that the Lord WOULD HAVE given them if they would only have been faithful.

Verse 15 simply states that even tho they were unfaithful they are STILL SAVED.

Here is a simplified break down of saved; yet so as by fire. that will help you to make sense as to what is being said.

– Saved….. Declared a Child of God.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power (the right) to become the sons (children) of God, even to them that believe on his name.

– Yet So As….. By the Authority or The Right.

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

– By Fire….. Of God’s Word.

Jeremiah 23:29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces.

In Conclusion:

The Word of God is A FIRE in which ALL people Saved and Lost will be judged by – 1 Corinthians 3:13.

The Saved will receive rewards based on their faithfulness – 2 Corinthians 5:10.

The Lost to determine their degree of punishment in the Lake of Fire – Revelation 20:12, Matthew 10:15.

The Word of God is A LAMP to all those who are searching and desire to know the truth. – Psalms 119:105

The Word of God is like MILK and WATER to them that feast upon God’s Word – Psalms 34:8.

But, the Word of God is also A HAMMER and a SHARP TWO EDGED SWORD to them that disregard the scriptures. Jeremiah 23:29, Hebrews 4:12.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as YOUR savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved – Acts 16:31

The moment that you do, YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

John 10:28-29 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (29) My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
