Question? Is feet washing in church necessary like a few churches practice?
Answer:
No, the verses that these few churches that practice Feet Washing take this claim from:
(John 13:14,15)
If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.(15) For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
I believe that the Lord was giving us an example(verse 15) of the fact even though we are saved eternally, we still NEED daily cleanseing from our sins that we COMMIT each day.
1 John 1:8 – 10 says:
(1 John 1:8 – 10) (8) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us (9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (10) If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
God has a open door policy, in verse 9 he tells us that if we WILL CONFESS our sins then he will forgive us and RESTORE our fellowship with him, when we sin WILLFULLY, and KNOWNLY God CANNOT bless us here on earth nor REWARD us in heaven and our fellowship is broken when we have UNCONFESSED sins in our life.
John 13:14,15 is NOT about a LITERAL feet washing practice for the church today but an example given to us about us NEEDING daily washing(confessing in prayer to the Lord, not to a priest or pastor) of our sins.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
