Question Seventy Five

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? What is sinless perfection, and What does John 8:10, & 11 mean?

(John 8:10,11)  When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee

(11)  She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Answer:

Sinless perfection is the belief and teaching that a person can obtain a state of sinlessness where they do not sin.

this kind of DECEPTIVE THINKING and teaching contradicts God’s Word and his view of our SINFUL state.

(1 John 1:8-10)

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (10) If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

(Romans 3:4)

God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Those that CLAIM sinless perfection like to GOTO John 8:10, & 11 as PROOF TEXT of their belief.

To set the record straight John chapter 8 verse 10 and 11 ARE NOT about reaching the SO-CALLED state of sinless perfection, there HAS NOT EVER after since Adam and Eve sinned anyone that has not sinned AFTER they have been saved, to claim otherwise is self deceptive, a liar and is FALSE TEACHING.

Romans 3:10 states:

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one”:(Romans 3:10)

Some Examples of those that sinned AFTER salvation:

1. Peter DENIED the Lord Jesus and DID NOT uphold to the gospel. – Galatians 2:11-14

2. Paul COULD NOT stop ALL his sinning – Romans 7:15-25

3. The carnal christians at the church or Corinth had MANY various sins – 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, 11:17-30

Sin has it CONSEQUENCES, and the Bible is CRYSTAL CLEAR on this.
Here is a list of some of the things that CAN happen if we do and CONTINUE in sin.

1. Loss of Joy – Psalms 51:12

2. Loss of Rewards – 1 Corinthians 3:10-15

3. Being disciplined by God – Hebrews 12:5-6

4. Have your life cut short by God – Acts 5:1-11

5. Be made sick by God – 1 Corinthians 11:30-32

(Galatians 6:7) Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

The ANSWER to John 8:10,11 can be found in Chp 5:14

“Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee”.(John 5:14)

The REASON Jesus said “GO SIN NO MORE” was for the very reason stated in the last part of verse 14 “lest a worse thing come unto thee”.

As for the woman in John Chp 8 that was caught in ADULTERY, Jesus told her to “GO SIN NO MORE”, WHY??? you ask, Lest something worse would happen unto her. Back in Bible times the Law stated that a person was to be stoned if CAUGHT in adultery, if she comitted that sin again she could actually be stoned, that WOULD HAVE been worse.

In Conclusion:

Things Jesus NEVER said:

– Go and sin no more or you cannot go to heaven.

– Go and sin no more or you will lose your salvation.

– Go and sin no more or you will be cast out.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

A. Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

B. Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

C. BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
