Question? Can you sir give a simple basic synopsis of Romans Chapter 9, 10, & 11?
Answer:
First I want to POINT OUT that Romans 10:9 – 13 are the MOST MISUSED and abused verses, in fact MOST churches and gospel tracts use Romans 10:9 – 13 for salvation, These verses have NOTHING to do with salvation, and it is ERROR to use them as such.
In scripture in order to be saved all a person has to do is BELIEVE.
(Acts 16:31) And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
(John 3:16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(Romans 4:5) But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
To REQUIRE a person to call on, or to confess with the mouth the Lord for salvation would INVOLVE WORKS which is CONDEMEND in scripture.
(Ephesians 2:8,9) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.
(Titus 3:5) Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
(Romans 11:6) And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
In Romans 10:9 – 13 these verses are dealing with the Nation of Israel(the Jews individualy). They are INSTRUCTED to make public what ALREADY took place (Trusting(believing on/in) Christ as their Messiah).
Verse 9 – if they CONFESS Jesus as Lord (God) (Gr. Kurios) and BELIEVE in thy heart ( that Jesus is the RISEN Saviour/Messiah God) they shalt be saved(Delievered/Protected) (Gr. Sozo).to perform or complete their ministry for the Lord.
Verse 10a – with the heart (Mind) (Gr. Kardia) man believeth (trusting in Christ alone as saviour) UNTO rightousness (justification) (Gr. Dikaiosune)
Vese 10b – with the mouth confession is made( TO GIVE THANKS) (Gr. Homologeo) unto salvation.(giving thanks BECAUSE they are saved NOT TO BE saved).
Verse 11 – Whosoever believeth ( To Trust In/ Have Faith upon) (Gr. Pisteuo) WILL NOT be ashamed.
Verse 12 – there is no difference between Jew, and Greek (all non Jews/Gentile). The SAME Lord (God) (Gr. Kurios) is over all and is rich to all who CALL UPON (To Give Testimony Of) (Gr. Epikaleomai)
Verse 13 – For whosoever shall call upon(To Give Testimony Of) (Gr. Epikaleomai) the name of the Lord(God) (Gr. Kurios) shall be saved(Delievered/Protected) (Gr. Sozo).
“Thou Shalt be Saved” means in V9 & 13, to be Delivered from Danger, Persecutions. Sufferings ect as the context warrants
Romans 10:9 – 13 is about GIVING TESTIMOMY to the world and THANKS to the Lord.
The Apostle Paule TRIED to encourage his fellow Jewish brethern(christians) to do the same BECAUSE his heart desire was for that:
(Romans 10:1) Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
and that:
(Romans 10:17) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
A Simple Synopis of Romans Chp 9, 10 , & 11
1. Chapter 9 – Dealing with the Nation of Israel in the PAST
2. Chapter 10 – Dealing with the Nation of Israel in the PRESENT
3. Chapter 11 – Dealing with the Nation of Israel in the FUTURE
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
A. Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
B. Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
C. BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
