Question? Is speaking in tongues, and faith healing for today?

Answer:

In short a BIG NO, The word Tongue In the greek is GLOSSA and it ALWAYS MEANS A KNOWN LANGUAGE not a secret or personal prayer language like they try to claim, NO WHERE are we told in scripture that tongues is a secret or personal prayer language, the purpose of tongues was to preach the GOSPEL primary and the Word of God to those who had not yet the Scriptures in their language. The gifts of the spirit have ceased since the completion of the Word Of God (Bible).

1 Corinthians 13:8-10: states:

V8 -weather there be prophecies they shall fail, weather there be tongues they shall cease, weather there be knowledge it shall vanish away.

V9 – for we know in part and prophecy in part.

V10 -but when that which is perfect is come then that which is in part shall be done away.

The Bible tells us that when THAT WHICH IS PERFECT is come the prophecies(visions, prophetic dreams etc), and tongues along with all the other sign gifts like faith healing raising the dead, casting out demons etc will end.

before the completion of the scriptures, early Christians could not refer to different books of the bible other than what they had available to them unlike us today we have the completed Word of God in which we can refer to any book of the bible, but not those early Christians.

The gift of speaking in tongues was for the sole purpose of preaching of the Word of God that is why in Chp 14:34 the bible States that NO WOMAN was permitted to speak(in tongues) BECAUSE it was was for the sole purpose of PREACHING the Word Of God which God would reveal later on in 1Timothy 2:12 and 3:2, that he did not allow women to usurp her authority and teach the Word of God as in the position of pastor of a church etc for God had established from the very beginning way back in Genesis 3:16 the man was to have leadership over the woman in matters of authority, providence, and spiritual guidance.

In V10 he word perfect in the greek is (teleios) and it means the completion of the revelation of God i.e. the scriptures(bible).

those that practice and support the speaking of tongues try to say the word perfect is referring to Jesus Christ but this is FALSE because the CONTEXT of the verse and the greek give record that IT IS THE WORD OF GOD not a person, and as the rest of V10 concludes that when the scriptures are completed then that which is in part(speaking in tongues) SHALL(will ) BE DONE AWAY.

Back when the gift of tongues was in operation(preaching the Word of God through divine revelation from God Through the Holy Spirit) the individuals that had this gift ALSO had ALL of the other gifts as well, unlike today those who just claim one of the gifts like healing or tongues ect are in direct opposition of the Word of God for if you have one of the gifts you have ALL OF THE GIFTS…Mark 16:17,18,

In Verse 18 of Mark it states that if you have the gifts of the spirit then you should be able to drink any deadly thing (poison) I have yet had a faith healer or those that claim they can heal or speak in tongues EVER take up the challenge to drink a 16oz glass of bleach BECAUSE after all according to the Word of God they can and live if they TRULY HAVE the gifts of the spirit, and also isn’t amazing that non of the Benny Hinns, Peter Popoffs, etc NEVER obey the scriptures when they ARE COMMANDED to GO TO the sick instead they force the deceived people to come to them – James 5:14.

These so-called healers IF THEY TRULY HAD the gift to heal THEY SHOULD be going to all the hospital’s, nursing homes, cancer centers and the cemeteries AS PROOF of their gift from God.

B. Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

C. BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
