Question? In your opinion how old is the earth?
Answer: What I think or what my opinion is, is not important, but rather what the bible says.
Back 40 or 50 years ago, the age of the earth wasn’t a DEBATED ISSUE the age of the earth was universally accepted as being OLD and of GREAT AGE, but now you have the Ken Ham’s who CLAIM that the age of the earth is only 6,000 years old and SAD TO SAY most Christians in this day of age have NOT been taught or have studied the scriptures for themselves to know if what Ken Ham says is correct, they just accept what he says as truth NOT KNOWING that what he is promoting is CONTRARY TO SCRIPTURE.
In Genesis 1:2 we read:
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Also in Isaiah 45:18
For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.
The Hebrew word for WAS in Genesis 1:2 is hayah and means “BECOME” so then the first part of Genesis 1:2 should read as follows “And the earth BECOME without form, and void”.
The Hebrew word for “VAIN”in Isaiah 45:18 is tohu which means “WITHOUT FORM” now when you consider the meaning for these two words the question has to be asked HOW DID the earth BECOME WITHOUT FORM?
To answer that question we need to go to Isaiah 14:12-14 –
(12) How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! (13) For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: (14) I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Here we have the five I wills of Satan:
1. I will ascend into heaven,
2. I will exalt my throne above the stars of God,
3. I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation
4. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds
5. I will be like the most High
Satan wanted to be God and be worshiped like God, he wasn’t satisfied in ruling over ALL the angels here on earth(I will ascend above the heights of the clouds) so he cause a rebellion(Read Revelation 12:7-9) and along with the angels that followed with Satan in that rebellion was cast out from heaven and God passed Judgement upon this earth which caused it to BECOME WITHOUT FORM AND VOID.
Original God DID NOT create this world IN VAIN (without form) God CREATED this earth originally PERFECT but then Satan and his fallen angels(demons) rebelled against God and so God put this earth into a Chaotic Condition(Judgement) and we are not told in scripture how long it remained that way but it was A LOT longer than 6,000 years as Ken Ham and others tell us today.
I also would like to point out another LIE of Ken Ham and his like, Ken CLAIMS that there was no sin before Adam in the Garden of Eden, well we KNOW that this NOT TRUE because Satan and his army of fallen angels caused a rebellion long before Adam and Eve were created in which God had to pass judgement upon Satan and those angels and upon this earth, But Satan also LIED to Eve in the Garden of Eden PRIOR to them sinning against God by believing Satan’s lies and eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was buried and three days later rose from the dead to pay for your sins.
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved”. Acts 16:31
Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell & the lake of fire); but the GIFT of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
