Question? Does the Bible teach that a person must give 10%?
Answer: NO, not in the Church Age
(2 Corinthians 9:7) Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
The Lord LOVES a cherful giver, a person is to give what they want (purposeth in his heart) to the Lord not what they have BEEN TOLD, or PRESSURED to give.(grudgingly).
Under The Law in the Old Testament a person HAD TO GIVE 10% of EVERYTHING they owned.
For Example:
If a person Ten sheep that HAD TO GIVE one to the Lord as an offering this was NON NEGOTIABLE.
The Bibles states in Romans 10:4…
(Romans 10:4) For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Jesus Christ FULFILLED the Law and AFTER his resurrection we are NO LONGER under the Law which means we are no longer REQUIRED to give 10%.
Some Churches STILL TRY to apply the 10% rule by quoting Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
But this is Old Testament, no where does it say give 10% and we are no longer Under the Law BECAUSE OF Romans 10:4
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins. the MOMENT you believe(TRUST in Christ ALONE) you recieve eternal life.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
