Question 236

Question? In what ways can we Grieve The Holy Spirit?

Answer:

The Bible verse where this is mentioned is found in Ephesians 4:30 which states:

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

The word GRIEVE in the Greek is LUPEO and it means TO DISTRESS, MAKE SORRY, SORROWFUL, or SAD

Christians CAN MAKE God (Holy Spirit) DISTRESSED, SORROWFUL or SAD by their choice to live a life that is DISPLEASING and down right SHAMEFUL to the him.

REASON WHY…

It cost the Lord HIS LIFE and SHED BLOOD on the cross to PURCHASE our salvation.

1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

The Bible makes it clear that OUR SALVATION came at a HEAVY PRICE, the Very Life of Christ and his PERFECT, SINLESS, RIGHTEOUS BLOOD to buy, purchase and secure the REQUIRED PERFECTION that God REQUIRES to allow entrance into his heavenly kingdom.

There are SO MANY people that make a MOCKERY of the Lord’s GREAT PAYMENT for their sins and he OFFERS IT to those who will ONLY BELIEVE that he Died, was Buried, and Three days later Resurrected from the grave as PROOF of that ACCEPTED PAYMENT for their sins.

Those that MOCK the SIMPLE PLAN OF SALVATION call it:

– Greasy Grace

– Cheap Grace.

– Easy Believeism.

The SACRIFICE of Christ on the cross was HARDLY CHEAP, EASY or GREASY.

Christ SUFFERED the PAINS of God’s wrath and PUNISHMENT on the cross as he was TAKEING OUR PLACE as our subsitute bearing the very brunt of God’s Judgement for our sins.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Those that call the Simple Plan of Salvation, Greasy, Cheap and to Easy are either IGNORANT of the SIMPLICITY of the Gospel or WILLFULLY REJECT it because of their Self Righteousness.

Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The Christian can GRIEVE the Holy Spirit by living a life that is CONTRARY to the Word of God.

The Bible states:

James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

As the Bible states if you know to do good and do it not it is sin, and how many christians will be honest to admit that they have NOT ALWAYS put the Lord first.

In Conclusion:

The Christian CAN GRIEVE the Holy Spirit by their:

– Shameful LIfe.

– Living Contrary to God’s Word.

– Not Always putting the Lord First in their life.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
