Question 246

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? What more did the ripping of the veil signified?

Answer:

MARK 15:38, Matthew 27:51, and Luke 23:45 ALL record the ripping of the Temple Veil in two.

The ripping of the Veil SIGNIFIED Three Things…

– #1 The Priesthood was now DONE AWAY with BECAUSE Jesus is NOW and FOREVER our High Priest.

Hebrews 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

Hebrews 7:21-28 (21) For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) (22) By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. (23) And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: (24) But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. (25) Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. (26) For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; (27) Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. (28) For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

– #2 All can go to Jesus PERSONALLY and RECIEVE forgiveness of sins.

Hebrews 4:15-16 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (16) Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

– #3 The Dispensation Age of the Law (Old Testament) was completed.

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

In Conclusion:

Unlike the FALSE TEACHING of the Roman Catholic Church that the priest has the power to forgive sins in which they DON’T EVEN have the power to forgive their own.

Jesus Christ was the ONLY ONE that had that power and when he died on the cross as the complete payment for yours, my, and everyone’s sins on planet earth, he said as recorded in John 19:30…

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
