Question? Is christianity just a bunch of do’s and dont’s?

Answer: YES and NO depending on what you mean…

Religion by word is mentioned 5 times in scripture and 4 of those times spoken EVIL OF.

See: Acts 26:5, (Evil) Galatians 1:13, 14,(Evil) and James 1:26(Evil), 27(Righteous)

Religion PLACES EMPHASIS on You Must Do This And You Must Not Do That (the do’s and dont’s) and the reason being for this is they are basing that belief on a FALSE faith plus works based gospel.

Christianity, on the other hand, TEACHES faith plus nothing in the Death Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ for eternal life.

The Apostle Paul who was sent to preach the gospel both to the Jew but also to the gentile(non Jew) taught by inspiration from the Holy Spirit that we as christians have certain liberties that we should NOT DO.

1 Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Greek SUMPHERO – EXPEDIENT = GOOD or PROFITABLE

1 Corinthians 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

Greek OIKODOMEO – EDIFY = BUILD UP

As the Apostle Paul explained in the two verses above ALL THINGS ARE ALLOWED (lawful) but not all things even if allowed ARE NOT ALWAYS  good to do,  nor do they present a good testimony (edify – build up) on the Christian’s behalf BECAUSE as the Apostle Paul stated he DID NOT WANT to be controlled (brought under) by the power (temptation or control) of certain liberties.

In Conclusion:

Religion says DO THIS but DONT DO THAT to be saved.
Christianity says Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

THE MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later Resurrected from the dead to pay for your sins.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell, but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
