Question? Please help me with Matthew 7:24-27?

(Matthew 7:24 – 27) Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: (25) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. (26) And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: (27) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Answer:

In V24 and 26 there are two types of people that are in view.

– V24 SAVED,

– V26 LOST

In V24 the WISE MAN built his house on a rock. The Rock is Jesus Christ, in otherwords the person (wise man) placed their trust in Christ ( upon a rock) as saviour (Built his house).

In V25 regardless of the trials, and testings (rain, floods, Wind) of this life came the Christian in V24 was able to get through them BECAUSE their salvation and life was based FIRMLY on the Lord Jesus Christ.

In V26 the FOOLISH MAN built his house on sand. The sand is referring to good works or human merit. In otherwords the person (foolish man) was trusting in their good works or human merit for salvation.

In V27 when the trials, and testings (rain, floods, wind) of this life came the LOST, UNSAVED person of V26 found out that they HAD NO hope, anchor, or foundation to rest upon BECAUSE their salvation and life WAS NOT upon Jesus Christ.

In fact the end of V27 gives a very GRIM ENDING for the lost person in V26 when they died they WENT TO HELL (and great was the fall of it) they found out one second to late that their works and human merit DID NOT save them.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
