Question 334

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? Is the word truth in 1 Timothy 2:4 referring to the gospel?

(1 Timothy 2:4) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Answer: YES

(1 Corinthians 15:1 – 4) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; (2) By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. (3) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; (4) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

As stated in V5 of 1 Timothy Chp,2… For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

The Lord DESIRES that all people WOULD BE saved (V4) and Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and him alone as their personal saviour.

2 Peter 3:9 states… The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

The Lord DESIRES that all come to REPENTANCE.

The word REPENTANCE is the Greek word METANOIA which means “A Change of Mind”. The Lord wants all people to CHANGE THEIR MIND from what THEY THINK gets them to heaven to God’s way to getting to heaven which is by Believing that Jesus Christ alone died on the cross, shed his blood and 3 days later resurrected from the dead as the complete payment for their sins.

(John 14:6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus Christ went willingly to the HELL OF THE CROSS to be OUR SIN SUBSITUTE and for that BRIEF PERIOD of time BE SEPERATED from God the Father so we wouldn’t have to for all eternity in hell.

(Hebrews 12:2) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

(2 Corinthians 5:21) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

(Matthew 27:46) And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

In Conclusion:

The Lord Jesus WANTS ALL to trust him as THEIR SAVIOUR, My plea is…please do.

(1 John 5:13) These things ( The Bible ) have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God ( Jesus Christ ); that ye may know ( Personally )that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

(John 1:12) But as many as received ( Trust alone as saviour ) him ( Jesus Christ ), to them ( the believer ) gave he ( the believer ) power ( the right ) to become the sons ( children ) of God, even to them that believe on his name.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
