Question 358

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? Does the Ark of the Covenant exist?

Answer:

No, I DO NOT believe so. The Ark of The Covenant was carried to Babylon and never seen after that.
Various theories have been proposed as to its whereabouts.

Some have suggested despite the LACK OF EVIDENCE from the Word of God that the ark was destroyed along with the temple in 586 B.C. Others say that Jeremiah hid the ark in a cave on Mount Nebo as recorded in the unreliable and uncanonical (uninspired) 2 Maccabees 2:4–8.

The Bible states in Jeremiah 3:16…

And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the Lord, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the Lord: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.

Furthur more the ark of the covenant, and particularly the mercy seat, pointed forward to Jesus Christ whom God presented as a sacrifice of atonement Romans 3:25.

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

The Greek word hilasteµrion, means propitiation and it is translated in the Hebrew as mercy seat or atonement meaning covering.

Placed in the ark of the covenant were Aaron’s rod, a pot of manna, and the stone tablets on which were written the Ten Commandments, which Israel repeatedly violated. Israel thus stood condemned by the Law, but the blood of sacrifice sprinkled on the mercy seat changed what must otherwise have been a place of judgment into a place of mercy. The blood came between the violated Law and the people who were the violators. In fulfillment of this crucial Old Testament type, the blood of Jesus Christ FULLY SATISFIED the Just and Righteous requirements (Absolute Perfection) of God’s Law, which mankind (all people) had broken. The guilt and penalty of sin was removed, and God’s wrath is thereby averted for ALL THOSE who simply believe and trust Christ as their saviour.

Romans 3:23-26
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (24) Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: (25) Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; (26) To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Acts 16:31
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

In Conclusion:

Thank the Lord that the purpose and function of the ark of the covenant was fulfilled in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
