Question 418

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? Tell me, When did the Church begin?

The Church began at Pentecost.

The word Pentecost means 50 and this event started 50 days AFTER the crucifixion of Christ on the cross.

Just to GIVE WARNING, there are some that TRY TO TEACH that the Church began in Acts Chp.9 and others THAT PROPOSE that in the Book of Matthew the Church already existed, but both of these ARE FALSE.

In Acts 2:41 the Bible states…

Then they that gladly received his word (Believed the Gospel – 1 Cor. 15:1-4) were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

There has ONLY BEEN one Pentecost which is NEVER to be repeated BECAUSE the Lord Jesus Christ DIED ONCE FOR SIN and that is NEVER to be repeated again as well.

Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Hebrews 10:12 But this man (Jesus Christ), after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God.

In Conclusion:

The word CHURCH is the Greek word EKKLESIA and it means “Called Out Assembly”,

it is found 114 times in the New Testament and it comprises ALL BELIEVERS from Adam & Eve to the Present – 2018 and referred to as “The Body of Christ”

This “Called Out Assembly” or “Body of Christ” is represented in 3 areas, such as…

– #1 World Wide – Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Ephesians 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.

1 Timothy 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

#2 In a Region – Acts 9:31 Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

#3 in a Local Congregation – 1 Corinthians 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

Revelation 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
