Question 447

Question? Who wrote Hebrews?

Answer:

The Apostle Paul.

Today many bible teachers and even a few good ones doubt that Paul is the Author of the book of Hebrews.

I believe that there are three ample proofs for us TO BELIEVE that the Apostle Paul wrote Hebrews.

The 3 Proofs:

– Hebrews 10:34- In my bonds.

For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.

The words “in my bonds” is characteristic of Paul’s life.

Philippians 1:7, 13,14, Philemon 1:10 and Hebrews 10:34 all declare was imprisioned for his boldness in declaring the Gospel of Christ.

– The Epistle to Hebrews was written in Italy.

Acts 27:1 And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus’ band.

In Italy the Apostle Paul along with others were handed over to the Roman Centurion named Julius to be taken back to the City of Rome and while in Italy Paul wrote Hebrews

– Hebrews 13:23 – Our brother Timothy.

Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you.

The Apostle Paul mentions Timothy by name.

Consider 2 Corinthians 1:1

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia.

In Conclusion:

The date of when the book of Hebrews was written is unknown, but it is quiteclear by reference proof that Paul is its author.

Hebrews was WRITTEN BEFORE the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD because Chp 10, V11 mentions that the Temple sacrifices by the Priest were still being offered there.

Hebrews 10:11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
