Question 478

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? Hi, I need a biblical answer to explain the heart of the mind and the blood pumping organ, like asking Jesus into your heart VS using your intellect?

Answer:

In Romans 10:10 the bible states…

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

The word HEART is the Greek word KARDIA and it means THOUGHTS, in other words YOUR MIND or Intellect.

Consider Genesis 6:5, & 17:17…

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Genesis 17:17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?

CLEARLY a person’s mind or intellect is in view here.

To get a better understanding of Romans 10:10 it could be read in this way to give a CLEARER UNDERSTANDING.

For with the Mind or Intellect, man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

The verse “Simply Means” TO BELIEVE with your mind or with your Intelligence NOT with your blood pumping organ called the heart.

NOTE: It should be pointed out that the word “CONFESSION” is referring to GIVING TESTIMONY of what has “ALREADY” taken place (The salvation of the person by their Trusting in Christ alone as their saviour and only payment for sin as the verse says UNTO Righteousness – 2 Corinthians 5:21).

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

In Conclusion:

In scripture, the word HEART is “Also Used” to describe a location such as the one mentioned in Matthew 12:40 which says…

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

The word HEART in Matthew 12:40 is speaking FIGURATIVELY and is describing a location in which in this verse it is speaking about the Inner Core or Center of the earth. therefore by inductive reasoning eliminating any reference to a physical, fleshly, blood pumping organ.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
