Question 479

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? Did Abel get saved WHEN he offered the blood sacrifice?

Answer: NO…

SADLY some commentaries have it WRONG and make that claim.

Just to be clear, Abel was ALREADY SAVED when he offered that blood sacrifice to the Lord in Genesis 4:4.

And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering.

This offering that Abel gave was A TESTIMONY of that fact.

There are churches such as Church of Christ, Lutheran, and Roman Catholic just to name a few THAT ADD water baptism to their plan of salvation and instruct their congregations that THEY MUST be water baptized in order to be saved.

The Bible states in 1 Peter 3:21 that water baptism DOES NOT take away or pay for sin but is ONLY a Outward Testimony of the believer that THEY BELIEVE that Jesus Christ DIED, was BURIED, and Three Days later RESURRECTED from the dead.

The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, (paying for sin) but the answer of a good conscience toward God – a outward testimony of) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Likewise Romans 6:4 states...

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

In Conclusion:

Just as Water Baptism is just an Outward Testimony of a person’s belief alone in the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, Abel’s blood sacrifice was a Outward Testimony that HE BELIEVED that one day (Looking Forward to) when Jesus Christ WOULD COME as the PROMISED MESSIAH and be the complete payment for ALL sin.

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
