Question? I read in a devotion that said Abel brought the blood sacrifice to gain salvation, is this right?

Answer: NO

As I have stated before and I will say it again. Abel brought the blood sacrifice BECAUSE he was ALREADY saved showing that HE BELIEVED the promise that God gave in Genesis 3:15 that Lord would send a Saviour (the Lord Jesus Christ) to be the “Complete Payment” for his sins, Abel LOOKED FOWARD to the Cross of Calvary.

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

The one thing a person MUST UNDERSTAND is this… If you have to do ANYTHING to be saved then you are ADDING WORKS to the Gospel which makes your salvation COMPLETELY null and void,

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Those in the Old Testament had to BELIEVE the same way as you and I do today the ONLY DIFFERENCE was is that they LOOKED FOWARD to the cross and we LOOK BACK to the cross BUT it was ALL the SAME GOSPEL

What MOST christians are not taught and confused about today is that the blood and burnt sacrifices were “Typeologies” that “Pointed To or Foward” to the time WHEN Christ would Die and be the “Lamb that was slain”.

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John.

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Revelation 5:12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

In Conclusion:

Those that say that Abel brought the blood sacrifice to uptain salvation are one of two things…

#1- Ignorant of what they say and have been lead to believe falsely.

or #2 – Believe in a False Doctrine of Faith PLUS WORKS.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
