Question? I have a tough one, Could you explain Ecclesiates 12:4 – 7 for me, Thank you?
Answer:
In short Verses 4 through 7 are referring to the Human Body in it’s final years of life.
V4
The doors shall be shut in the streets – Speaks of hearing loss.
The sound of the grinding is low – The loss of or wearing down of teeth.
He shall rise up at the voice of the bird – The inability to have long sleep filled nights, the slightest thing startles or awakes them.
All the daughters of musick shall be brought low – The voice changes, no longer able to carry a tune, etc.
V5
They shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way – The loss of stable walking, The shuffling of the feet, Everything seems to be a trip hazard.
The almond tree shall flourish – The Whitening or Graying of hair.
The grasshopper shall be a burden – Simple tasks such as bending down to pick up something off the floor BECOMES difficult.
Desire shall fail – Sexual and Romantic intimacy lessens or deemed less of a priority.
Man goeth to his long home – The nearing of death.
The mourners go about the streets – The funeral procession.
V6
Or ever the silver cord be loosed – The word OR should be translated as IF, The word Loosed should be tanslated as REMOVED. The Sliver Cord is the spirit of a person (the REAL them that cannot be seen).
James 2:26 states… For as the body without the spirit is dead.
V6 is saying in collaboration with James 2:26
If (or) the spirit (silver cord) be removed (loosed) then death has occurred.
Or the golden bowl be broken – Speaking of the head and brain, The word BROKEN referrers to Memory loss and Diseases that effect the functionality of the brain.
The pitcher be broken at the fountain – The Pitcher are the lungs, The Fountain speaks of there ability or functionality, just as a water fountain or spring provides a flow of water the lungs provide the continuous respiration (breathing) and the reintroducing of oxygen into the blood stream, The word BROKEN referrers to to their INABILITY to perform this function due to disease or age related complications.
The wheel broken at the cistern – The wheel is the heart, The cistern speaks of the blood vessels and arteries that provides the blood flow to and from the heart.
Broken speaks of heart conditions and medical complications of the vessels due to harden of the arteries etc.
V4 THROUGH V6 speaks of the DETERIORATION of the human body, Life is NO LONGER sustainable which eventually leads to death.
V7
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was – The Dust is the body.
Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
AFTER death the body DECAYS and naturally reverts back to the elements which God had created it from.
The spirit shall return unto God who gave it – Hebrews 9:27 states… And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.
UPON DEATH the person is SUBJECT FOR ETERNITY to the decision they chose WHILE ALIVE to either Believe on Christ or to Reject Christ as their saviour.
For those that BELIEVED on Christ, heaven is their home.
Those that REJECTED Christ, hell and torment WILL BE their destiny.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
