Question 600

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? Are the words cast the unprofitable servant into outer darkness in Matthew 25:30 teaching that a christian that DOES NOT serve the Lord will be cast into hell?

Matthew 25:30  And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Answer:

Absolutely Not!!!, The only things that a christian can lose for not serving Christ is…

Joy & Happiness.

Galatians 5:22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.

Blessings and Rewards in this life and in heaven.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15  For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.  (12)  Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;  (13)  Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.  (14)  If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.  (15)  If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Their Testimony.

Matthew 5:13,16  Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. (16)  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

And if the Lord see’s fit, their life.

1 John 5:16-17  If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.  (17)  All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

BUT their salvation IS NEVER taken away or called into question for it is EVERLASTING.

John 10:28  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

In Conclusion:

To DISSPELL any fear and False Teaching, the words OUTER DARKNESS can be appropriately applied or thought of as being In darkness, In the dark, No light at the end of the tunnel, or No ray of hope as far as receiving any rewards or blessings are concerned.

UNPROFITABLE = Unfaithful

1 Corinthians 4:2  Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man (christian) be found faithful (in serving Christ).

The “Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth” can be understood as feeling guilty, angry or bitter at oneself for not serving Christ when they see what they could have had but forfeited.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
