QUESTION 657

Question… In Mark 7:27, What did Jesus mean by his statement to the woman wiyh the demon possessed daughter?

Answer: First I must define some words in Jesus Statement.

* Children – Refers to the Nation of Israel, known as israelites or Jews.

* Bread, Crumbs – Means the Gospel and the Word Of God.

* Dogs – Refers to Gentiles, non Jewish nations & people.

What Jesus was saying to the woman who was of a Canaanite lineage (Gentile), That Israel was to recieve (be filled) and be responsible to share The Gospel and the Word Of God first and not the gentiles yet.

But because as stated in John 1:11, “He came unto his own, and his own received him not.” The Jews as a nation REJECTED their prophesied Messiah, therefore Jesus went to the Gentile nations and GAVE them commission and task of spreading the Gospel and the Word Of God.

In Verse 28 we have the woman’s response “And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs (Gentile nations) under the table (the nation of Israel) eat (recieve) of the children’s crumbs (the Gospel and Word Of God) .” which meant that she UNDERSTOOD what Jesus was saying to her (He had not yet been rejected by Israel) , and because of it, SHE BELIEVED and placed her FAITH ALONE in Christ as her Messiah and Saviour, and for that faith Jesus casted out the demon in her daughter Mark 7:29 “And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.”

In Conclusion:

Jesus desire was for the Nation of Israel (The Jews) to BELIEVE and to SHARE the Gospel and the Word of God(Mark 16:15, John 8:32).

What about you, have you believed the Gospel and placed your faith alone in the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ as the ONLY PAYMENT for your sins as the woman did. And if you have, Are you fufilling the GREAT COMMISSION (Matthew 28:19,20) in taking The Gospel and the Word Of God to everyperson you have opportunity with.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as YOUR savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins – See 1 Cor. 15:1-4.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved – Acts 16:31

The moment that you do, YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

John 10:28-29 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (29) My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
