Question? Could you expound the words Grace, Mercy and Peace in 1 Timothy 1:12?

(1 Timothy 1:2) Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

Answer:

Grace, Mercy, and Peace you could say are the three sisters of salvation.

In these three words we have THE GOSPEL. They sum up our COMPLETE salvation in Jesus Christ.

In these three we have:

– GRACE: Grace points to the past, OUR SALVATION was “Promised before the world began” – Titus 1:2

(Titus 1:2) In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.

– MERCY: Mercy speaks of the present, It is MANIFESTED to us day by day.

– PEACE: Peace is the CONSUMATION because it makes OUR FUTURE secure.

– Grace is RECIEVING what we DO NOT deserve.

– Mercy IS NOT recieving what we DO deserve.

We DESERVE to go to HELL, but by HIS MERCY we shall NEVER go there.

We DO NOT DESERVE to go to HEAVEN, but by HIS GRACE we will spend eternity there.

– Grace JUSTIFIES, Mercy PARDONS. Grace ALLOWS us to enter heaven on the bases of NOTHING we have done, Mercy SAVES US from hell.

The death of Christ was ENOUGH to pardon us but it took his resurrection to EFFECT our Justification.

(John 19:30) When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

(Romans 5:8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

(Romans 8:34) Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

(Hebrews 10:12) But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God.

(Romans 4:25) Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

After WE HAVE trusted in Christ ALONE for our salvation as the COMPLETE PAYMENT for ALL our sins then and then only do we RECIEVE the “Peace Of God”. that passeth ALL understanding.

(Romans 5:1) Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

(Philippians 4:7) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins. the MOMENT you believe(TRUST in Christ ALONE) you recieve eternal life.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
