Question? Is it Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ or Having a Personal Relatianship with Jesus that saves?
Answer:
To “BE SAVED” a person MUST Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, Believing that Christ PERSONALLY:
– DIED on the cross and shed his blood.
– Was BURIED, and.
– 3 Days later AROSE from the dead as the PAYMENT for all their sins.
NO WHERE in scripture (The Bible) does it say that HAVING a personal relationship with Jesus saves.
The PROBLEM with COIN PHRASES like “Having a Personal Relationship with Jesus”, “Ask Jesus into your Heart”, or “Taking Christ as the Master of your Life” ect. have NO scriptual basis to back them up.
When a person TRUST Christ as their Saviour they can GOTO the Bible and point to verse such as:
– (John 3:16)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
– (Acts 16:31)
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
– (Romans 4:5)
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
The words BELIEVE, TRUST and FAITH all mean the SAME THING as “To Rely on Completely Alone” or to “Trust in Alone”.
It seems like nowdays that whatever is POPULAR and the IN THING in christianity is, it is the thing to say, do, or be NO MATTER if it is scriptual or not, as long as it SOUNDS christian then it’s ok.
1 John 5:13 says that when we BELIEVE on Christ for salvation we can KNOW that we have eternal life.
(1 John 5:13) These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
The word KNOW is the Greek word EIDO and means TO KNOW or in this case to have a “PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE”.
We KNOW this BECAUSE we have God’s WRITTEN WORD on it, we are NOT just trusting in some coined phraseology that CANNOT be backed up by scripture, but the WORD OF GOD itself, so the christian can LITERALLY SAY that they have a “Personal Saving Knowledge In Christ”.
All other coined phraseologies ONLY leave Doubt and Confusion as to if that person is saved or not BECAUSE the phraseology CANNOT be supported biblically.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
