Question 149

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? I am confused about the meaning “that no man take thy crown” in Revelation 3:11, is it refering to loseing our salvation.

(Revelation 3:11)  Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Answer: NO

One of the MOST IMPORTANT doctrines a person NEEDS to understand is that ONCE YOU ARE SAVED YOU ARE ALWAYS SAVED no matter what.

(John 10:29)  My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

Take NOTICE that the word MAN is italicized which means that it WAS NOT in the oringinal manuscripts but added by the translators.

In Revelation 3:11 The Greek word for TAKE is LAMBANO and means RECIEVE, or OBTAIN.

Verse 11 of Chapter 3 should read as follows “Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man RECIEVE or OBTAIN thy crown”.

When VIEWED from the perspective that a person CANNOT lose their salvation then the meaning gets cleared up to refering to our REWARDS not salvation.

In other words the Believer/ Christian is to be on the guard to watch out for any that would SIDETRACK us from serving the Lord fully until he comes and getting us to FORFIET some REWARDS (Crowns) that we would have recieved for staying fully committed to the work of the Lord.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
