Question 162

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? is using the Romans Road plan of salvation ok to use?

Answer: NO

A lot of gospel tracts and people USE the Romans Road plan of salvation with GOOD INTENTIONS, but good intentions NEVER got anyone saved there are LOTS of people in hell WHO HAD good intentions.

Those that use the Romans Road to SHOW a person’s NEED for Christ as saviour start out good, and they usually use three verses from the Book of Romans to lead someone to Christ for salvation.

1st Verse: Roman 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

This verse is used to explain that everyone in the human race EXCEPT Jesus Christ has sinned and come short of the glory of God, which is GOOD.

The word GLORY means Perfection

2nd Verse: Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Here they explain that BECAUSE we have sinned and come short of the PERFECTION (glory) that God REQUIRES to go to heaven, The PAYMENTor wages for sin must be paid for in HELL (death), Then they further explain that the ONLY WAY to get the GIFT of eternal life is to BELIEVE that Jesus died for them WHICH IS VERY GOOD.

Now if all those gospel tracts and people would STOP right there, there would be NO PROBLEM, but then they go to a third group of two verses in Romans that has NOTHING to do with salvation, but rather one of “GIVING TESTIMONY”.

3rd Verse: Romans 10:9, & 13

(9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord thou shalt be saved.

The CONFUSION and or REFUSAL to investigate God’s Word when they see the phrase “Thou shalt be saved” they ASSUME salvation, but this is NOT SO.

Romans 10:9 – 13 are dealing with the Nation of Israel (the Jews individualy).

They are INSTRUCTED to make public what ALREADY took place (Trusting, believing on / in Christ as their Messiah).

Verse 9 – The word Confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus means to Give Testimony of that Jesus Is God in the flesh.
Verse 13 – For whosoever shall call upon(To Give Testimony Of) (Gr. Epikaleomai) the name of the Lord (God – Gr. Kurios) shalt be saved(Delievered – Gr. Sozo).

“Thou Shalt be Saved” means in V9 & 13, to be Delivered from Danger, Persecutions. Sufferings ect as the context warrants

Romans 10:9 & 13 is about GIVING TESTIMONY to the world ABOUTJesus and THANKS to the Lord NOT salvation.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
