Question? What is the Gospel unto Abraham in Galatians 3:8?
(Galatians 3:8) And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
Answer:
The short answer, The Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
(1 Corinthians 15:1 – 4) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; (2) By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. (3) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; (4) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
There are those THAT TEACH that God has TWO DIFFERENT gospel messages.
– One for Old Testament: Works + Faith.
– Another for New Testament: Faith + Nothing
This is ERROR and a FALSE TEACHING, God has ALWAYS had ONE GOSPEL message:
(Acts 16:31) And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
If there HAD BEEN two different gospels that God had instituted then he WOULD HAVE inspired the Apostle Paul to write it down and make it VERY CLEAR that this was so.
Those that FAIL or just plain REFUSE to believe there has ALWAYS BEEN one ONE GOSPEL, choose to REJECT the destinction between the Old Testament and the New Testament.
– OLD TESTAMENT: They looked TO THE cross BELIEVING Christ WOULD COME and die on the cross as payment for their sins, ALL the animal sacrifices were a type that POINTED TO when Christ would shed his blood for their sins.
(Hebrews 9:12-15) Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. (13) For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: (14) How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (15) And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
Take NOTICE of the words: under the first testament, they which, might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
– NEW TESTAMENT: We look BACK TO the cross, BELIEVING Christ DID COME and died on the cross as payment for our sins, NO animal sacrifices needed, Christ was the sacrificial lamb slain. the end of the law for righteousness sake.
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
(Romans 10:4) For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
In Conclusion:
The Gospel Unto Abraham as stated in Hebrews 9:15:
that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
ALL the Old Testament saints WERE SAVED the same way as the New Testament saints and You and I are saved today.
(Acts 16:31) And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
