Question 233

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? The words Eternal Security and Rapture are not in the bible, explain this?

Answer:

You are correct these TWO DOCTRINES are not mentioned BY NAME in scripture, but THEY ARE TAUGHT in scripture.

ETENAL SECURITY

(Ephesians 1:13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

(1 Peter 1:5) Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

(John 3:16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

(Hebrews 9:12) Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

The Bible makes it VERY CLEAR that ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED (etenal security) this is a GUARANTEE we have FROM THE scriptures and the Lord Jesus Christ.

ONLY THOSE who have TRUSTED ALONE in the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ as the COMPLETE PAYMENT for their sins have this guarantee.

(John 3:36) He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

THE RAPTURE

(1 Corinthians 15:52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

(1 Thessalonians 4:16,17) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (17) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

(Titus 2:13) Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

(1 Thessalonians 5:9) For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible ALSO makes it VERY CLEAR that those that are saved WILL BE RAPTURED this is a Hope and a Promise we have from the Lord Jesus Christ.

To DENY the TEACHING of these TWO DOCTRINES is to DENY the Word of God.

(2 Timothy 3:16) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

The Bible also states that ONLY THOSE who have PLACED their FAITH ALONE in Christ as their saviour will be taken at the rapture all others WILL BE left behind to go through what is called the Seven Year Tribulation Period but they can still be saved if they will only “Believe on he Lord Jesus Christ” – Acts 16:31

In Conclusion:

Although the words Eternal Security and Rapture are not specifically mentioned in scripture by name they are SURLEY TAUGHT in scripture.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
