Question 279

Question? Explain Ecclesiastes 10:1?

Ecclesiastes 10:1 Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour.

Just as dead flies in a expensive perfume (ointment) destroy and ruin ( stinking savour) its sweet smell, sin in a christians life will destroy their testimony, reputation and effectivness for Christ.

Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Satan WILL ALWAYS TRY to do three things to the Christian…

1.Steal- The Christian’s Joy and Peace of their salvation and service to God – Romans 5:1

2. Kill- The Christian’s Testimony and Effective witness for Christ – 1 Peter 5:8

3. Destroy- The Christian’s Physically, Mentally, and Spiritually and if ALL POSSIBLE kill the christian DEAD through sin.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Satan WILL ALSO TRY to accomplish his goal through one or all three of the following…

– The Lust of the Flesh:
Sexual Temptations

– The Lust of the Eyes: The Greed and Consuming Want to have what others have.

– The Pride of Life: The Acquirement of Power and Position no matter what the cost or who it hurts or destroys to get.

(1 John 2:16) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

In Conclusion:

Satan WILL USE any Sin (the dead flies) we allow to in our life to PUTRIFY (cause to stink) our Perfume (Testimony) to hinder our purpose and usefulness for the Lord in reaching the Lost with the Gospel.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
