Question? Please give help on 2 Corinthians 5:16?
2 Corinthians 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
Answer:
The Apostle Peter told us that there are SOME DEEPER things in scripture that are HARDER TO BE UNDERSTOOD and that is why we are INSTRUCTED TO STUDY the Word of God so that we CAN UNDERSTAND them.
2 Peter 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Corinthians 5:16 is one of those HARDER VERSES that make the student of the bible at first go huh???, What does that mean???, I am confused.
Here is the Answer:
– Know we no man after the flesh = We have known no other man (Christ) as the saviour.
– Yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh = We know him (Christ) as a good man (after the flesh) but not as the saviour.
– Yet now henceforth know we him no more = But now we know (now henceforth) him (Christ) as the saviour (know we him) not just (no more) a good man.
In Conclusion:
To put it all together, V16 basically says…
We have known no other man (Christ) as the saviour, but We know him (Christ) as a good man but not as the saviour, But now we know him (Christ) as the saviour not just a good man.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
