Question? Sir please explain Revelation 4:3?

And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

Answer:

It must have been a very beautiful sight as John opened his eyes, and there he was in Heaven, face to face with the Lord Jesus Christ. What a sight to behold!

What is the significance of the stones which John saw. He looked and he saw a jasper stone, and a sardine stone, and “there was a rainbow round about the throne in the sight like unto an emerald.”

To get the significance of this, we have to go to the Old Testament, because in Exodus chapter 28, all of these stones appeared on the breastplate of the priest. We find out there
that when the priest went in to perform his priestly duties, he had twelve stones upon his breast, a stone for each of the twelve tribes of Israel.

(Exodus 28:15)  And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work; after the work of the ephod thou shalt make it; of gold, of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine twined linen, shalt thou make it. (16)  Foursquare it shall be being doubled; a span shall be the length thereof, and a span shall be the breadth thereof.(17)  And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row. (18)  And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond. (19)  And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst. (20)  And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be set in gold in their inclosings. (21)  And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.

It is interesting to note that the SARDIUS is the FIRST STONE mentioned.

The Sardius stone was a Blood Red stone which represents the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to the Cross of Calvary.

The Sardius stone also identified the Tribe of Ruben which means “BEHOLD THE SON”.

In John 1:29 we have John the Baptist DECLARING…

(John 1:29)  The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

INTERESTING INDEED!!!

The Jasper was a clean and transparent stone that speaks of Victory and Power.

The Jasper stone was the last stone on the breastplate and it identifies the Tribe of Benjamin who represents the Lion when it comes in power.

Benjamin’s name means “THE SON OF MY POWER”

When John the Apostle was given this vision he saw it in reverse in comparision to the book of Exodus BECAUSE he was LOOKING BACK to the Cross, while Moses the writer of the book of Exodus LOOKED FORWARD to the Cross.

In Conclusion:

The Sardius Stone signified the First Coming of Jesus Christ to the Cross to shed blood as the complete payment of all sins for mankind (hence the color of the stone – Blood Red) – Exodus 28:17, Revelation 4:3

The Jasper Stone signified the Second Coming of Jesus Christ – Exodus 28:20, Revelation 4:3.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
