Question? What does it mean to be Wise as serpents and Harmless as doves?
Answer:
that quote is found in Mark 10:16 which states the above asked…
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
I believe the answer to that question to be as such that we need to be SHARP (wise) on the scriptures, BECAUSE in 1 Peter 5:8 scripture tells us…
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil (SATAN), as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
Satan is WALKING and LOOKING whom he may DECIEVE (devour) in false doctrine.
the wolves are Satan’s FALSE MINISTERS, they sound good, they are slick in their false doctrines and they WILL DECEIVE you if you have not been properly grounded in and taught sound bible doctrine.
(2 Corinthians 11:14,15) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. (15) Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
To be Harmless as Doves simply means to be Patient, Tactful, and Curtious to those WHO we are trying to reach with the Gospel for Christ and with those WHO WANT to be taught and hear the truth of God’s Word.
But as with ALL SITUATIONS each individual case REQUIRES different treatment.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
