Question? In 1 Peter 4:6 How was the gospel preached to the dead?
1 Peter 4:6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
Answer:
The word DEAD is referring to being DEAD SPIRITUALLY not physically.
The SAME EXPRESSION is used in Ephesians 2:1, which states…
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Any person that HAS NOT trusted Christ as saviour (believing that he (Jesus Christ) ALONE died and shed his blood on the cross was buried and three days later resurrected from the dead as complete payment for their sins) is CONSIDERED dead spiritually (trespasses and sins).
The ONLY REMEDY for this condition (being spiritually dead) is to Trust Christ as personal saviour.
Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
In Conclusion:
After a person HAS TRUSTED Christ as saviour then as the verse continues with that we(those of us that are saved) can Judged According (To be Declared) they (those who have trusted Christ as saviour) to be saved, AND THEN they can serve the Lord as their Lord (but live according to God in the spirit) but NOT BEFORE.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.
-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8
-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24
-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9
“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23
IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
