Question 417

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? In Luke 10:42 what is ” Which shall not be taken away from her” referring to?

Luke 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Answer:

Mary was the sister to Martha whom their brother Lazaruz was raised from the dead by Christ.

To Begin with we are dealing with SERVICE here not salvation.

“Mary hath chosen that good part” is referring to Mary’s WILLINGNESS to please the Lord (acting as a Spiritual Christian- and this SHOULD BE the goal of every believer), where as Martha was MORE CONCERNED about the Material and Physical things of this life acting as a Carnal Christian.

Now on to the Question “Which shall not be taken away from her” is in reference to the REWARD that Mary would receive for “Putting the the Lord first in her life”.

IF every christian could learn this lesson from Mary and PUT the Lord first and family second (IE. Parents, Grandparents Aunts, Uncles, Sisters or Brothers etc) in their life they would find that they would have MORE rewards BRCAUSE Christ would have PRIORITY not a backseat.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (12) Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; (13) Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. (14) If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. (15) If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

TO MANY christians Have FORFEITED blessings that the Lord would have given BECAUSE they just could not SAY NO to family.

For Example: If the Relatives (IE. Parents, Grandparents, Aunt, Uncle, brother or Sister ect. want to visit on a Sunday TELL THEM they are welcome AFTER church or they can come to church with you, NEVER COMPROMISE the Lord’s Day or putting the Lord first for family, Be like Mary NOT Martha.

The Bible state...

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
