Question 459

By: Robert Serreyn

Question? Can any applications be made from John 6:12?

John 6:12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

Answer: I believe so…

If you are like me you probably wondered “What was done with all the Twelve Baskets of fragments”? But I believe the lesson that Jesus was teaching was that we ARE NOT to waste the things that God gives us or as the bible states “That nothing be lost”.

In essence “We ARE NOT to forget about others (Share what we have learned) AFTER we have been filled up (Been Taught) ourselves.

I believe the three following practical lessions can be applied…

# 1: It is NOT ENOUGH to “Read the Word” (to consume) for our OWN PROFIT, but we SHOULD also be able to GIVE OUT (Share) some of it out to others.

Jeremiah 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

#2: We are RESPONSIBLE for the Little Things (our service) just as much as we are accountable for the Bigger ones (our testimony)
.

Ephesians 6:6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

No one would think of “Throwing Away” a whole loaf of bread but we tend to DISCARD (Waste) the Crumbs (our service and testimony for the Lord).

#3: We are RESPONSIBLE for ALL the Lord gives us.

The Lord Jesus IS the Bread of Life that was PREPARED (at the cross – John 14:2) at a AWFUL COST (his death – Romans 5:8, Philippians 2:8).

John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

If we REALIZE “How Much” it REALLY COST to provide this “Bread of Life” (Our Salvation) we would be CAREFUL to “Prize It” in the highest.

In Conclusion:

The cheaper a thing is, the less we “Value It”, If we TRULY UNDERSTAND the price of “Our Salvation” then WE SHOULD have “No Problem” telling others about it.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to know IS Jesus Christ as savior, just simply believe that Jesus Christ went to the cross and DIED and shed his blood, was BURIED and three days later RESURRECTED from the dead to pay for your sins.

The moment that you do YOU HAVE (at that second and forever) Everlasting Life which WILL NEVER be taken away no matter what.

-Christ DIED for you – Romans 5:8

-Christ PAID your sins in full – 2 Corinthians 5:21,1 Peter 2:24

-BELIEVE (Trust In Completely) in Christ ALONE as the complete payment of sin for salvation – John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8,9

“For the wages(payment) of sin is death (eternal torment in hell); but the GIFT(salvation) of God is eternal life THROUGH Jesus Christ our Lord”. Romans 6:23

IT IS THAT SIMPLE – THE GOSPEL TRUTH
